SAN DIEGO, March 26, 2018 -- While peeps may be delicious in springtime, Dr. Doug Disraeli warns that the marshmallow bunnies and chicks are at the top of his list of candies to avoid.
Says Dr. Disraeli, “Any candies that are sticky, including peeps, can create a less hospitable environment for healthy teeth and gums.”
Instead, according to the ADA, lingering sugar can feed naturally occurring bacteria in the mouth and lead to bad breath, plaque, tartar and biofilm.
For healthy mouths this Spring, Dr. Disraeli offers a few tips:
1. Avoid the marshmallow candies,
2. Eat your treats in one sitting instead of all Spring,
3. Drink plenty of water,
4. Visit your dentist regularly.
