‘Poldark’ season 3 is set to introduce a new host of characters in addition to Aidan Turner’s Ross Poldark, Eleanor Tomlinson’s Demelza, Heida Reed’s Elizabeth, and Jack Farthing’s George Warleggan. The trailer for the highly-anticipated season premiere scheduled for June 11, 2017 promises more action, drama, and tension for the main cast of characters of the historical drama television series based on the novels of the same name authored by Winston Graham.
According to Huffington Post, season 3 is set to pick up after the events of the preceding season following Ross and Demelza’s tense reunion after he cheated on her with one intimate night with former fiancée Elizabeth. In the trailer, Elizabeth’s husband George is holding Elizabeth’s infant.
George then declares that he would like to call the baby “Valentine” as Elizabeth looks on with a worried look on her face. Caroline Blakiston’s Aunt Agatha then threatens in the next scene, “Cursed he be.” It is unclear whether Aunt Agatha is referring to Elizabeth’s child.
It seems that Elizabeth will do everything in her power to keep the mystery behind the child’s father a secret, considering that Ross may also be the father.
In the next scene from the trailer, Demelza has her arms around a man who she introduces as her brother Drake. Harry Richardson is set to play Demelza’s sibling in the upcoming season and is also a brother to Sam (Tom York).
According to The Telegraph, Drake is one of Demelza’s younger brothers and moved to Cornwall for a better life. Although he doesn’t share Sam’s religious fervor, he is a good-natured and loving brother to Demelza and shares similarities with her.
The trailer also introduces Morwenna Chynoweth (Ellise Chappell), Elizabeth’s younger cousin. The character has been appointed governess to Elizabeth’s son, Geoffrey Charles. It seems that Morwenna’s relationship with Drake will fuel the ongoing rivalry between George and Ross’ families.
‘Poldark’ season 3’s episode 1 is scheduled to be released on June 11, 2017 on BBC One. It was directed by Joss Agnew and written by Debbie Horsfield. It will be followed by episode 2, which is scheduled to air on June 18.
