“Our honorees have shaped the current residential landscape of Southeastern Michigan and are diligently creating its future,” said Michael Stoskopf, CEO of the HBA. “It is a pleasure and an honor to acknowledge their accomplishments.”
The award is presented annually to those who have demonstrated exceptional qualities of leadership over the years, and who display exemplary devotion to their industry and their community as a whole. The Hall of Fame recognizes members who have made the greatest contributions since the formation of the Association back in 1928.
From his humble roots as a Detroit native, Pulte created a company that has built over 680,000 homes since its founding in 1950. In 1969, William J. Pulte, Inc. became Pulte Home Corporation and went public with Pulte as chairman and president. The Company remains one of the nation’s largest homebuilders generating $7.5 billion in homebuilding revenue in 2016. Pulte announced his retirement in 2010, following the 60th anniversary of the company, and the same year Fortune magazine recognized Pulte Homes as one of the world’s most admired companies. The company employs 4,500 people and is the nation's leading multi-brand homebuilder, capable of serving homeowners during all phases of life under its Centex, Pulte Homes, Del Webb, DiVosta Homes, and John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods brands.
“It is an honor to be recognized by the HBA and inducted into their Hall of Fame, said Bill Pulte, founder of PulteGroup. “I consider myself incredibly lucky to have never worked a day in my life, because I truly loved what I did and the tremendous people I got to work with.”
The Home Builders Association of Southeastern Michigan honored the 2017 Industry Leadership Award honorees at the association’s Awards Night and Holiday Celebration held at The Diamond Center at Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi. Robert Pulte, son of William J. Pulte, accepted the award on his father’s behalf. Nearly 400 members and guests attended the event which is an annual celebration for local builders, land developers, remodelers and suppliers to the home construction industry.
