‘Stranger Things’ season 4 spoilers: Possible release date and trailer reveals Hopper is alive but in captive

Stranger Things

“Stranger Things” season 4 has bee renewed before 2019 ended and sure enough fans can’t contain their excitement. There are many things to be clarified in the series and many questions have yet to be answered so Netflix really made a good decision to renew the series.

The renewal announcement for “Stranger Things” season 4 was made through a promo clip that shows a mysterious tag line that says “We’re not in Hawkins anymore.” Not much has bee revealed but the latest spoilers even confirmed what fans have been suspecting all along - that Hopper did not die in the basement of Starcourt Mall.

Hopper’s fate - he lives!

In the latest teaser that was released in February, Hopper (David Harbour) was shown alive but he is being held captive in a Russian prison. As to how he got there, the theory that he could have teleported somewhere else after the machine exploded in season 3’s finale could be correct.

Since he is in another country, this could be what the first tease meant when it stated they are not in Hawkins anymore. They are in another region and it is likely, everyone else including Eleven will be in Russia too.

"We're excited to officially confirm that production on ‘Stranger Things’ season 4 is now underway -- and even more excited to announce the return of Hopper!" Fox 5 quoted Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer, as they affirmed the renewal and Hopper’s fate. "Although it's not all good news for our 'American'; he is imprisoned far from home in the snowy wasteland of Kamchatka, where he will face dangers both human..and other."

Filming is delayed

“Stranger Things” season 4 has started filming already however due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they had to stop the production until further notice. The restrictions in America and most parts of the world are still in place so it may take a long time before they can return to work. Producer and director, Shawn Levy, told Variety that before the lockdown, they have completed at least one month of filming.

Finally, due to the delays, “Stranger Things” season 4’s release date may take a while to be determined. However, Game Rant suggested a release window of October 2021 based on the usual Netflix seasonal premiere dates.
