HOUSTON, March 08, 2018 -- Transwestern today announces it raised more than $166,000 over the past 12 months for its national philanthropy partner, Make-A-Wish®, supporting the organization’s mission to grant life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. The funds allowed Make-A-Wish to grant wishes for 15 children nationwide. Transwestern’s total fundraising has topped $350,000 since February 2016, and the company has recommitted its support for a third year.
“I am continuously impressed with the outpouring of generosity from Transwestern team members, tenants and partners to support this incredible organization in creating extraordinary experiences for truly deserving children,” said Chip Clarke, President │ Americas. “Giving back to causes we believe in has always been an important part of Transwestern’s culture, and I look forward to what we can accomplish together in the year to come.”
Transwestern’s fundraising efforts fulfilled wishes for more than a dozen kids, including Lily, an 8-year-old from Austin, Texas, with a genetic condition, who wished to go to the Florida theme parks; Christian, an 18-year-old from Houston with cystic fibrosis, who wished to have an online shopping spree for musical instruments; Norman, a 15-year-old from Washington, D.C., with leukemia, who wished to go on a cruise; and Rose, a 12-year-old from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with osteosarcoma, who wished to go to Paris.
In addition to a nationwide initiative where team members donated in exchange for a Friday afternoon off, Transwestern offices held creative local fundraising events, including happy hours, yoga classes, bake sales and more.
In the coming year, Transwestern plans to collaborate with its tenants, vendors and owner clients to organize local fundraising events during the month of May, as well as participate in Walk For Wishes® events throughout the year.
