Teresa Giudice was released from jail in December 2015 after serving 11 months of her prison term for fraud. However, after coming home, it was her husband, Joe Guidice’s turn to serve his sentence for the same offense. His term is longer and it also resulted in his deportation.
The “Real Housewives of New Jersey” star reflected on what happened to their family in the last three years and she admitted that there were lots of things to be sorry about. She shared that what she regretted the most was missing a couple of years time with her children due to the imprisonments.
During her interview with People, Teresa Giudice also revealed that she is actually angry about how everything turned out for her and Joe. She is especially mad over her husband’s deportation because it could have been prevented if Joe had only done something to legalize his stay in America. He could have arranged his papers for US citizenship when he was younger but he did not, so now he is faced with the dilemma of being separated from his family.
On Oct. 10, the US Immigration and Customs ordered Joe Guidice’s deportation and the announcement instantly crushed Teresa Guidice and her daughter’s world. Still, Joe can file for an appeal and the “RHONJ” star stated that her husband remains positive that they will overcome this problem.
Joe immigrated to the U.S. when he was still a child but he never obtained citizenship. As an adult, he was charged with fraud in America so with all of his offenses, the officials ruled that he must be deported to Italy, his home country. If he will fail to overturn the decision, Joe has to leave once he is released from jail on March 2019.
Now, although Teresa Guidice said that it was “heartbreaking” for her family, she and her daughters - Gia, 17, Gabriella, 14, Milania, 13, and Audriana, 9, are coping well. The 46-year-old reality star added that their children are old enough to understand what was happening so they are trying to stay strong.
As mentioned on The Daily Mail, Joe and Teresa Guidice pleaded guilty to 41 counts of fraud in 2014. They were also charged for non-payment of taxes that amounted to $200,000. The former was given a 41-month jail term while the latter was sentenced to 15 months.
