The filming of “The 100” season 6 has officially started. And since the series returns with a new world, showrunner Jason Rothenberg confirmed that it required them to build a new production set.
“The 100” season 6 filming originally started in late August. But Rothenberg revealed on Sunday that this week marks their first day of shooting “on the most insane set [they have] ever built” for the franchise.
Rothenberg’s Twitter feed is now filled with behind-the-scenes photos and videos as the cast and crew of “The 100” season 6 began filming a few weeks ago. But one of the highlight BTS updates is definitely the show’s new filming set to match the story unfolding in a new world.
The showrunner also described their all-new set for “The 100” season 6 as “huge, illogical (in a good way), & beautiful.” He added, “Turns out leaving Earth meant leaving every set we owned, save the mothership. Art dept and construction rose to the challenge!”

It can be recalled that season 5 ended by introducing a new main character and the previous cast members waking up on an entirely new planet. “The 100” season 6 will tackle how the protagonists will deal with an unfamiliar planet and, of course, the lurking danger in it.
Rothenberg also teased in one social media post, “Sweaty actors on the left of me, sweaty director on the right. Why’s this new planet so damn hot?” While this may only be Rothenberg’s way of poking fun at the cast and crew, some fans suggested that it might be a reference to the new world’s environment and what the characters will have to endure in “The 100” season 6.
Details on the plot for “The 100” season 6 are naturally kept secret at this point. However, one highly speculated event next season involves Clarke (Eliza Taylor) and Bellamy (Bob Morley).
In the book series of the same title where the TV show is loosely based on, the couple got engaged in the end. However, since Rothenberg is expected to tweak several events in the TV adaptation, fans are speculating that “Bellarke” will even get married in “The 100” season 6.
The CW ordered “The 100” season 6 last May. A premiere date has not been announced yet but is slated for 2019.
