‘The Blacklist’ season 4 is set to air sometime in late September or October and will delve deeper into Liz and Alexander’s relationship.
According to Bustle, season 4 for the popular crime drama series was renewed back in December 2015. Although no confirmation has been made regarding its official air date as of the moment, it is likely to return on the small screen sometime in late September or October as stated on NBC’s fall schedule.
In addition to a new season, the network has also picked up a spin-off series entitled ‘The Blacklist: Redemption’ starring Famke Janssen of ‘X-Men’ fame. The Dutch actress is set to play Susan “Scottie” Hargrave, the chief of Grey Matters - a team of corporate operatives to which Tom Keen (Ryan Eggold) belongs in.
In the new series, Tom joins Scottie and her mercenary organization to solve cases that the government would rather not get involved in. Their relationship is similar to that of ex-high profile criminal turned confidential informant Raymond “Red” Reddington (James Spader) and FBI’s special consultant Elizabeth “Liz” Keen (Megan Boone) from the original series.
Meanwhile, season 3 of ‘The Blacklist’ took its characters through some twists and turns. After Liz’s death turned out to be staged by Kate Kaplan (Susan Blommaert), Tom and baby Agnes fly to Cuba for a reunion. However, Red’s old enemy Alexander Kirk (Ulrich Thomsen) tracks them down and manages to abduct Liz after which he tells her that he is her father Constantine Rostova.
According to Entertainment Weekly, creator and co-executive producer Jon Bokenkamp addressed the shocking events that took place on season 3. When asked about Liz’s thoughts after Alexander’s revelation, Bokenkamp said, “She doesn’t know what has happened to either Tom or her child, so she’s concerned about her family, and she’s terrified that the fantasy life that she had hoped to carve out with Tom by faking her death is destroyed.”
He then teased, “What I do promise is that Alexander Kirk and his relationship to Liz will ultimately give us a far deeper understanding of Red’s relationship to Liz in season 4.”
‘The Blacklist’ is an American crime thriller television series produced under Davis Entertainment, Universal Television, Sony Pictures Television, and Open 4 Business Productions. It premiered on NBC on September 2013 and went on to receives numerous awards and nominations including a nomination for Spader for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Television Series Drama.
