How the story wrapped up in season 5 certainly opened an entirely new world of possibilities in “The Blacklist” season 6. But, for sure, the viewers will be watching more details revealed about who the imposter Reddington (James Spader) really is.
For a brief recap, the events before “The Blacklist” season 6 revealed that the Red that fans knew for all five seasons is a completely different person. But, interestingly, Liz (Megan Boone) has known about this truth all this time.
Obviously, Liz will be busy uncovering more secrets about the fake Red in “The Blacklist” season 6. “What’s going to be the most fun about next season is watching Liz peel back this onion and get to the truth of why this man entered her life five years ago,” showrunner Jon Bokenkamp previously told Entertainment Weekly.
Fans have several interesting theories about this fake Red. Bokenkamp also admitted that “many” of these predictions “make sense” for what’s to come in “The Blacklist” season 6.
The revelations tied to the fake Red is linked to Liz's newfound purpose. And since this is an entirely new territory for the main protagonist, fans should expect her teaming up with some unlikely people in “The Blacklist” season 6.
For one, Liz will have to work with her sister, Jennifer (Fiona Dourif), despite not being able to trust her completely. Bokenkamp teased about “The Blacklist” season 6, “Liz should probably compare stories with her sister Jennifer, who has information.”
It can be said that Liz has the upper hand coming into “The Blacklist” season 6. She and Jennifer know about their fake father. But the imposter Red has no idea. But being poised as one of the best con men in the story, the prospect of him learning about Liz’s plan will also offer a thrilling twist for the viewers.
“The Blacklist” season 6 was ordered shortly after season 5 ended. So it is still unknown when the next installment will premiere. But it is expected to happen sometime in 2019.
