Most video game fans looking forward to the release of “The Elder Scrolls: Skyblivion” are likely wondering about the total file size of the mod considering how massive the project is going to be. Developers do not have the final number yet, but they confirmed what they currently have already surpassed the 30GB mark.
‘The Elder Scrolls: Skyblivion’ file size will be a ‘big one’
Developers working on the “The Elder Scrolls: Skyblivion” recently held an Ask Us Anything event on Reddit, where fans were given the latest updates on their work. As expected, one of the questions they received was related to the file size of the game.
Level designers of “The Elder Scrolls: Skyblivion” confirmed that the content they have already put together had reached 30GB, but they also reminded fans that they have so much more to add to the game. While the final number has yet to be determined, fans are already advised to expect it to be a “big one.” It can be recalled that the overall file size of “The Elder Scrolls: Skyblivion” is one of the reasons why developers settled that the mod will not be released on consoles.
To further appreciate how huge “The Elder Scrolls: Skyblivion’s” file size shaping up, note that developers also confirmed they have only focused on the base game at this point. It is then very likely that the 30GB file size does not include any of the DLC. Several developers, however, told fans they have dabbled on some DLC work, including weapons and armors. But they have been mostly focused on building the base “Oblivion” game on the “Skyrim” engine.
‘The Elder Scrolls: Skyblivion’ updates: What are the plans for underwater combat and the magic system
On the official website of “The Elder Scrolls: Skyblivion,” developers did not provide many details on the underwater combat. It has been one of the most anticipated gameplay features in the mod. Luckily, the subject was also briefly discussed at the Reddit event, and work has reportedly started on adding it to the game.
Several fans also asked about the team’s plans for the “Oblivion” magic system and how it would be in the mod. Project lead Rebelzize confirmed, “We are trying to overhaul the magic system as best as we can and also implementing mechanics such as spell crafting and quick casting.” A release date for “The Elder Scrolls: Skyblivion” has not been announced yet.
