The teaser opened with Barry Allen a.k.a. Flash (Grant Gustin) promising revenge over the casket of his deceased father Henry (John Wesley Shipp). He says, “I promise you I’m gonna take from him what he took from you.”

He goes on to say in the next scene, “I want him to suffer for everything that he’s done.” It seems that Barry may be embracing his dark side.

It teased Barry’s hate-fueled pursuit of Hunter Zolomon a.k.a. Zoom (Teddy Sears) as well as an epic final showdown between the two. According to Melty, the upcoming episode’s plot synopsis revealed that Barry will do whatever all he can to stop Zoom after learning the villain’s true plans.

According to International Business Times, the season finale couldn’t get any more personal. Barry watched Zoom murder his father in the same spot where he watched his own mother die when he was a child.

In Barry’s rage, Harry Wells (Tom Cavanaugh) advises him to temper himself or else lose out to Zoom in the end. Harry tells Flash, "You want revenge? If that's what you're doing then you will lose."

Towards the end of the teaser, Zoom challenges Barry to an actual race to prove who is indeed “the fastest man alive”. It seems unlikely that Zoom would back down and step away from his devious plans should Flash defeat him in the foot race.

Meanwhile, Gustin expressed his optimism for his character’s fate despite the imminent showdown in in the finale. During an interview with Comicbook.com, he said, "I will be adamant! I don’t know what’s going to happen in season 3, how they’re going to write it, where they’re going to go, but Berlanti and Kreisberg and Geoff – I actually don’t know how closely Geoff’s involved anymore – but all those guys know The Flash better than anybody, and they know that he has to have the optimism."

Gustin added, "He lost his mom at a young age, he saw her right in front of him, then went back in time and watched it again… he’ll find a way to deal with this. He’s not going to let it ruin him. It’s going to be hard to come back from this one, but he’ll stay optimistic Barry."

‘The Flash’ season 2 finale is scheduled to air on The CW on May 24, 2016.
