“The Walking Dead” Season 9 will have two of its stars walk out as Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Maggie (Lauren Cohan) are going to be leaving this upcoming installment. It goes without saying that fans are severely disappointed about this development, with some claiming it will herald the end for the post-apocalyptic drama.
After the news broke out, speculations were rife as to how exactly the writers are going to handle Rick and Maggie’s exit. The speculations are even louder now since AMC recently released the titles for each of the episodes of “The Walking Dead” Season 9, Express reported. The titles are as follows:
- Episode 1. A New Beginning
- Episode 2. The Bridge
- Episode 3. Warning Signs
- Episode 4. The Obliged
- Episode 5. What Comes After
- Episode 6. Untitled
- Episode 7. Stradivarius
- Episode 8. Evolution
Looking at this reveal, fans can make an educated guess as to where exactly Rick and Maggie are going to make an exit in “The Walking Dead” Season 9. The most likely candidate is the last episode as it might mean that the show will undergo a heavy transformation after both characters are gone. It would also mean that the community that the group has evolved into will also be subjected to extreme changes.
However, one can argue that “What Comes After” will be the episode where these characters will leave as it implies some sort of major event taking place. Following this, “Evolution” can then signify the group’s decision to appoint a new leader, which is slated to be Daryl (Norman Reedus). Another significant scene that is highly anticipated by fans is the cameo of Shane (Jon Bernthal) in “The Walking Dead” Season 9.
While the character has already been killed in the previous installment, Shane has been confirmed to return in the upcoming season as photos were leaked showing Bernthal’s presence on the set. It’s expected that the character will be shown in flashbacks, which will likely occur when Rick is fighting for his life. This goes well with the literary trope of a character’s life flashing before their eyes when their imminent death is approaching. “The Walking Dead” Season 9 is slated to debut on Oct. 7.
