The wait for “The Winds of Winter” continues and George RR Martin knows that he owes his fans as they have been waiting patiently since 2014. In an effort to make for the delays, the author updates fans whenever he can with regards to the status of the much-awaited novel.
In fact, George RR Martin just posted a new update earlier this week. The “A Song of Ice and Fire” writer wrote on his blog and inform his followers about what he is up to. Of course, he mentioned “The Winds of Winter” and this renewed everyone’s excitement over its release.
On Monday, Nov. 5, George RR Martin wrote on his blog, "Believe it or not, I am working hard on a lot of things (yes, including WINDS), even though I am not allowed to talk about most of them."
He added, "Eventually, I hope, you'll all be able to enjoy the fruits of my labors. I hope."
While this is not exactly the kind of update that fans are waiting for, it is something to be grateful for since the author assures everyone that he is “still” working on the book. Waiting for a long time is definitely better than waiting for nothing.
At any rate, George RR Martin also took the opportunity to apologize because he kept saying that the upcoming “Game of Thrones” spinoff has been titled “The Long Night.” Apparently, HBO has another title in mind and it is clearly not what the 70-year-old multi-awarded writer prefers.
Still, on the same blog post, he wrote, “I should also mention, HBO has informed me that the Jane Goldman pilot is not titled ‘THE LONG NIGHT,’ that is the title I prefer but for the moment it is still untitled.”
“The Winds of Winter” author also shared that actress Naomi Watts has been selected as one of the firsts to be added in the cast lineup of the new “Game of Thrones” prequel pilot. However, the details of her role in the show are not available as of this time and the production team is keeping it under wraps.
“The Winds of Winter” is not around yet and it seems that fans have to wait a bit more for its release. There were reports that it will be out in 2019, around the time when “Game of Thrones” season 8 arrives but this is not confirmed.
