Volvo has started contacting owners of its around 106,900 cars worldwide over suspected brake problems to have a software update installed, according to a Volvo Cars spokesperson.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the risk of a crash may increase due to a reduction in brake support functions resulting from a diagnostic error.
The vehicles being recalled by the Swedish carmaker are its 2023 year model of the C40, XC40, S60, V60, XC60, V90, and XC90.
Volvo noted that the risk posed by the brake problem is low, and they have no reports of related accidents or injuries.
