Apple’s next major event, where the iPhone 12 series is very likely to be announced, is taking place in just a little over 24 hours from now. However, most recent reports from well-known leaker Jon Prosser suggesting some last-minute changes in the retail launch plans for the upcoming devices.
iPhone 12: The important dates to remember, according to a notable leaker
The event, which Apple calls “Hi, Speed,” is happening Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 10 a.m. PDT. Like all of Apple’s events this year, it will be conducted virtually and without in-person attendance due to COVID-19. On the bright side, it gives everyone a fair chance in watching the event as fans and the media will be able to tune in through online streaming.
iPhone 12’s unveiling event is obviously a month later than usual, but everything that has happened in 2020 explains why Apple’s calendar is different this year. However, the tech giant is still expected to apply a familiar pattern when it comes to the pre-orders and retail launch dates of the smartphones.
In his latest update, Prosser told his Twitter followers that the initial iPhone 12 pre-orders would still open on Oct. 16 and would be followed by the devices’ arrival in stores on Oct. 23 or a week later. However, the iPhone 12 models that would be available on those dates are reportedly different than what has been expected.
BTW: I still stand by the dates that I gave last month ????

Pre-order on October 16
In stores on October 23
☝️ those dates pertain to iPhone 12 & iPhone 12 Pro
Pro Max and Mini are the ones coming in November. ????????♂️

The same report added that the models slated to be released on those dates are the iPhone 12 and the iPhone 12 Pro – both rumored with 6.1” screen. The iPhone 12 has been anticipated to become available alongside the smallest model, which is now rumored to be called the iPhone 12 mini with 5.4” display. Following sometime in November, according to the same leaker, are the iPhone 12 mini and the iPhone 12 Pro Max.
Prosser has had a good record this year when it comes to leaking product launch dates of Apple products. But it still worth noting that all iPhone 12 leaks should be taken with a grain of salt.
iPhone 12 specs: What NOT to expect
After months of relentless leaks, Apple fans should know by now that all iPhone 12-named smartphones are expected to launch with OLED displays and 5G. While the latter is a timely upgrade, it is also the reported reason why another much-requested feature – 120Hz display – is not happening.
Noted analyst Ming-Chi Kuo previously reported that Apple had to abandon 120Hz for the iPhone 12 this year to avoid underwhelming battery life. Prosser has since added that Apple had to choose between 120Hz and 5G because both are battery-demanding features.
