Sotheby’s announced that a collection of 101 computer-generated NFT apes that is part of Yuga Labs' Bored Ape Yacht Club collection had sold for $24.4 million.
The collection has 10,000 unique NFT’s featuring bored apes in party hats, smoking cigarettes, wearing 3D glasses, etc.
Yuga Labs explained that each ape is unique and programmatically generated from over 170 possible traits, including clothing, headgear, and bored expressions.
According to the club’s website, all the apes are dope, but some are rarer than others.
The new collection closed way above Sotheby’s initial estimates of $15 million to $18 million.
Sales of these bored apes have raked in more than $5 million for Yuga Labs in the past month.
On crypto marketplace OpenSea, the NFTs are expected to be close to $124,000 right now, with others going for just over $109,000.
The most expensive NFT on the market is still the Everydays--The First 5000 Days by Beeple, which was sold for $69.3 million at Christie’s in March.
