6 Infallible Tips So That A Move Does Not End With You

Are you about to make a move? Do you know that you have to move house but you can't decide, not to face it? Yes, a move is a moment that almost all of us want to avoid. Although it involves a change and a new life experience, we cannot deny that the key days of the move are a great injection of stress for us.

It will always depend, of course, on the number of people who move, which may mean a greater or lesser volume of boxes and furniture; if there are children, if the house that we have to empty is large or small and if the move is done by H2H movers Chicago or by a specific service that we hire.

Although it is a complicated moment, it can become much less so if we organize it well and do not leave any detail to chance.

1. When Should We Make The Move?

Whatever it is, we must consider it two months in advance, the ideal time to request budgets, organize ourselves with the schedules and days off that we are going to need and plan well what we are going to do with the children, if any.

There are those who prefer the time of the holidays, but the truth is that if the children are still young, it is best to take advantage of school days so as not to have to be aware of them for a good part of the day (at home there will be no television, no toys, not even a fridge with food...).

2. How Should It Be Raised?

A couple of months before we must start getting rid of what we do not need and will not serve us in the new house. Go furniture by furniture reviewing, empty the attics and take the opportunity to throw away or give away. Surely you haven't gone through your house for a long time to get rid of what you no longer use: clothes, children's toys, books... Even furniture. The houses do not have the same dimensions and you know that there will be things that you cannot fit in the new house.

3. At What Time Do You Have To Start With The Boxes?

If the move is going to be done by a specialized company, they will make the boxes the day before, but it is recommended that we start little by little to bring small things to the new house: The most delicate elements, some furniture that is easy for us to move for that the service is cheaper, and some specific boxes. If we are going to do it ourselves, the ideal is to start making the boxes fifteen days before.

There will never be enough boxes, so it is best to stock up on more than we think we will need. From a house of around 130 meters with four members, about 200 can come out. The ideal system for packing is to go room per room and only leave on the furniture what is really going to be essential. You have to number the boxes and indicate what they contain on the outside with a marker.

If it is a movers near me company that is going to do the service for us, we must insist on this point, otherwise, it will be a real chaos to find anything in the new house.

4. Do We Do It Or Do We Hire A Company?

This is a purely economic decision, because there is no doubt that the most comfortable thing is to avoid doing it ourselves. However, there are some important aspects that should help us make a decision. If our house is large and with a lot of furniture, it is important to turn to a company that will have all the appropriate means for transporting boxes and furniture.

We also have to see if the house we are going to move to has an elevator where fit our furniture or we're going to have to carry it up the stairs ourselves. The companies also have a furniture storage service, in case we do not have enough space in the new house. Another very important issue to consider is the distance to which we are going to move. If we move far away (to another province, for example), the logical thing is that we have a company that moves all the furniture at once.

5. How Do We Organize Ourselves, Once We Have Everything Transferred?

The important thing is that there are at least two people, one in the house that we leave who can supervise the work of the operators who will be finishing and another in the new house to receive the truck. It is very important that the boxes are stacked by rooms, each in their own. And if it is for furniture and drawers, much better.

Of course, it is possible that the time will come when not all the boxes fit in the room to which they belong, but that is something that we must accept. The important thing is to know where they are left. From now on, one of the most stressful moments of a move arrives: the house is full of boxes and we would need at least five generous volunteers to help us place everything in less than a week so as not to fall into an anxiety crisis.

The important thing is that we assume that this is going to happen to us and wait for it, because that way we will be prepared. It is important to have family and friends to help us, even to have a person for hours to carry out our work. Someone to help us empty boxes, because the fewer boxes we see around us, the better we will feel.

6. Where Do We Start?

It is best to start with the beds and the kitchen. The rest can go slower. Of course, try not to deal with too many rooms at the same time and focus on one. Just the fact of seeing one of them already finished will give you the feeling that you are moving forward, even if the rest are full of boxes.

If you follow these steps, I assure you that the move will be much more bearable. Working piecework you won't start to see the light in less than a week, but it's inevitable. In any case, the best of everything is yet to come: a new house, new decoration and hundreds of small details to polish that will make our home an even more welcoming place than the previous one.
