AB „Grigeo Group“ said the Šiaulių apygardos teismas in Lithuania ordered its subsidiary, AB „Grigeo Klaipėda“, to pay €48.3 million for environmental damage, a judgment the subsidiary plans to appeal.

Grigeo Group said the conviction covered statutory environmental violations and damage to nature. The court also imposed a €2 million fine and barred the subsidiary from reorganizing until it completes the punishment ordered by the court. The judgment is not final.

Grigeo Klaipėda is not disputing responsibility for wastewater discharges, but challenges the assessed level of environmental damage and the compensation method, Grigeo Group said. The subsidiary argues that under European Union law, compensation should be made in kind through environmental restoration measures.

Grigeo Group reported that the subsidiary remains active and is honoring its contracts. The parent assessed the judgment as having no direct operational effect on other group companies and posing no risk to the group’s continued operation.

The subsidiary recorded €49.5 million in sales in 2025, including €34.3 million from customers outside the group, equal to about 14% of consolidated group sales, Grigeo Group said. Its earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) were €0.3 million, roughly 1% of the group’s EBITDA.

Grigeo Group is assessing the ruling’s financial effect and said it will update its 2026 financial statements if more adjustments are needed. The subsidiary plans to appeal to Lietuvos apeliacinis teismas.
