Abu Dhabi-based ADNOC Gas has agreed to supply TotalEnergies with as much as 1.6 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas under a five-year deal, but its announcement leaves the volume’s time basis unstated.
ADNOC Gas did not disclose a price for the new agreement. Its Nov. 3 announcement does not identify the 1.6 million tonnes as an annual amount or as the total across the contract.
The company’s Q1 2026 investor presentation described Das Island as the supply point, projected the first deliveries for 2026 and estimated the agreement’s value at $700 million to $800 million. It did not clarify how the volume is measured over the five-year period.
The deal adds to an existing commercial relationship. In May 2023, ADNOC Gas announced a separate LNG arrangement lasting three years with TotalEnergies Gas and Power, which operates as a subsidiary within the TotalEnergies group. ADNOC Gas valued that earlier deal at $1 billion to $1.2 billion under prevailing market conditions.
Fatema Mohamed Al Nuaimi, ADNOC Gas chief executive officer, said, “Global demand for LNG continues to grow, and ADNOC Gas is well positioned to capture that opportunity.” The company said the agreement builds on its relationship with TotalEnergies and supports growth, resilience and shareholder value.
ADNOC Gas also described a platform that combines LNG marketing activities at ADNOC Gas and XRG with capabilities from ADNOC Trading. The company’s target is to market 47 million tonnes of LNG annually beyond 2030.
In a separate development, TotalEnergies holds a 10% interest in the planned Ruwais LNG project. The facility is designed for capacity of 9.6 million tonnes per year, with start-up expected in the second half of 2028. Stéphane Michel, president of Gas, Renewables & Power at TotalEnergies, called the site a “perfect location between Europe and Asia.”
