A lot of children express interest in becoming astronauts, but only the exceptional few ever get the opportunity to go to outer space. For the rest of humanity, settling for images and videos of these remarkable people has had to suffice. With the advent of new simulation technology, however, this is no longer the case. The release of “ADR1FT” for the PlayStation 4 promises to provide players with the most realistic space simulation for home use yet.
In “ADR1FT,” players will be taking control of an astronaut named “Alex Oshima” who is stranded in space after a crash, according to Tech Times. The title is expected to be released for the “PS4” on July 15, so that’s a date that space-simulator fans will want to mark on their calendars. The game is “Three One Zero’s” first, which makes its success a defining factor in the future of the company.
The game was actually supposed to be released much earlier, but the developers decided that it would be better to wait until the VR technology of “Oculus Rift” becomes available. This is understandable as a space simulation experienced through a VR environment would give the game more depth and would touch more players on a deeper emotional level.
As for the Xbox One version, Engadget reports that the release date is slated for September 16, which writer Timothy J. Seppala found odd. Seppala credited the game’s inception to Three One Zero Head Adam Orth’s unfortunate Twitter exchange involving the console, which resulted in Orth getting fired by Microsoft.
Seppala spoke with Orth at E3 2015, where the latter shared his mindset when it came to developing “ADR1FT.” Supposedly, the game’s creation was benefited by the Twitter feud’s aftermath.
In any case, Pulse Headlines notes that the game will involve some significant puzzle-solving as the protagonist essentially wakes up in a space station without any memory of how it got wrecked in the first place. So aside from a significant space simulation experience, “ADR1FT” will also be an appealing title for players who like brainy games.
