It seems the first-person shooter phenomenon of a franchise known as “Call of Duty” is just checking A-list names left and right now. In “Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare,” the main antagonist was “Jonathan Irons” and he was played by “House of Cards’” Kevin Spacey. For “Infinite Warfare,” Kit Harington will play “Admiral Salen Kotch” who is the leader of the invasion force that attacked earth. That’s quite a switch from his heroic persona in “Game of Thrones” as “Jon Snow.”
The announcement that Kit will be playing an antagonist in the next “COD” game was made a week ago and Game Informer actually spoke with the game’s narrative director Taylor Kurosaki about it. When asked what Kit’s role as “Admiral Kotch” will be, Kurosaki said that “Kotch” is the “Settlement Defense Front’s” leader. Essentially, he is the enemy with the biggest bull’s eye on his forehead for players to shoot.
“It’s a classic war story in a different setting, naval warfare with two captains dueling it out in the reaches of space,” Kurosaki said. “Kotch is the most skilled “sailor” of the SDF, so you (as Reyes) are up against a guy with a ton of experience who has a vendetta against your entire way of life.”
Once he got past making all the “Game of Thrones” references, Ryan Winslett at Cinemablend noted how the game’s main theme is similar to practically every other time period where two warring factions with different ideals collide. “Kotch’s” experience and expertise is a particularly sweet challenge for the novice leader that is “Reyes” thanks to the many years “Kotch” has held his post.
Right now, those are the only things that anyone knows about “Infinite Warfare’s” bad guy. Will he be belligerent? Will he be cruel? Players will have to wait for the game’s release to find out.
