The fall season of 2019 was certainly a busy time for the consumer technology industry. Apple certainly made headlines not just for its new iPhones but also because of the AirPods Pro.
AirPods Pro was obviously a market success since it went sold out in most stores shortly after its announcement in late October. Meanwhile, those who have yet to get their pair of earbuds (because they were sold out in the holidays) might want to check first its compatibility and system requirements.
AirPods Pro can be used on a wide array of Apple hardware products
There has been a lingering theory that tech manufacturers are pushing out new accessories that would convince consumers to purchase newer devices. Luckily, that does not apply to AirPods Pro, as it can be used to a very long list of Apple products. People do not need newer iPhones to use AirPods Pro. It is supported by iPhone SE, iPhone 6S, and up to the iPhone 11 series.
Apple tablets released from the time of iPad mini 4 until the third-generation iPad Pro will also connect with the AirPods Pro. All Apple Watch models support the earbuds, too. The seventh-generation iPod Touch can be used with the AirPods Pro along with the Apple TV HD and 4K variants. Mac models that were launched in 2012 are also compatible with the true-wireless earbuds.
However, some features are not available to older iPhone and iPad models. The iPhone SE to iPhone 7 series, iPad Mini 4, and iPad Air 2 does not support audio sharing. Meanwhile, the system requirements across all Apple hardware lineups are not restrictive, too. These devices just need to have the latest operating system version available to be connected to the AirPods Pro.
AirPods Pro specs, features, price
The H1 chip that powers the AirPods Pro is the same as the first two AirPods released. However, the latest model comes with several exclusive features that make it more appealing despite the price increase to $249.
Unlike the first two models of AirPods, the Pro version comes with customizable silicon tips to fit the user’s ears better. Its primary feature is the active noise cancellation and transparency mode that were not present in earlier AirPods. It is also the only model in the lineup that is certified as sweat- and water-resistant.
