Amazon’s chief Jeff Bezos revealed that he believes Saudi Arabia could have illegally accessed his phone and this was how his personal messages were leaked. His assumption is based on the results of the investigation carried out by hired detectives.
According to Fortune, Jeff Bezos launched his own investigation by hiring a personal investigator to find out how his messages were leaked and published on the National Enquirer. The leak exposed the Amazon founder’s illicit personal life after it was revealed that he was having an extra-marital affair.
Explicit photos of the richest man in the world were also published by the National Enquirer and this includes images of his private part. Amazon’s personal investigator discovered proofs that point to the hacking of Jeff Bezos phone.
The detective also found out that Mr. Bezos case has a link to Washington’s Post’s coverage about the murder of the journalist Jama Khashoggi. He said that Jeff Bezos was targeted by the Saudi government because the Amazon founder also owns the WP that have previously written a lengthy report about the murder of the said writer who was shot at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.
The businessman is convinced that the investigator is right because he said that the National Enquirer blackmailed him after obtaining the private messages on his mobile device.
"Our investigators and several experts concluded with high confidence that the Saudis had access to Bezos' phone, and gained private information. As of today, it is unclear to what degree, if any, AMI was aware of the details," Amazon’s security chief Gavin De Becker said.
This claim of Jeff Bezos that he was hacked contradicts the National Enquirer’s lawyer’s claim. Speaking through a previous televised interview, The Daily Beast quoted the lawyer as saying, “It was not the White House, it was not Saudi Arabia. It was a person that was known to both Bezos and Lauren Sanchez (the alleged mistress). Any investigator that was going to investigate this knew who the source was.”
At any rate, the source mentioned in the news is Jeff Bezos’ alleged mistress’ brother, Michael Sanchez but with the latest investigation, it seems more people are involved and proved that this is not a simple case.
