NEW YORK, June 28, 2017 -- Dr. Doris M. Rubio, Professor of Medicine, Biostatistics, Nursing, and Clinical and Translational Science at the University of Pittsburgh, has been selected to join the Education Board at the American Health Council. She will be sharing her knowledge and expertise on Health Services Research, Clinical and Translational Science, Biostatistics, and Psychometrics.
With over two decades of experience in field of Clinical and Translational Science, Dr. Rubio offers valuable insight in her role as the Professor of Medicine, Biostatistics, Nursing, and Clinical and Translational Science at the University of Pittsburgh. Ranked as one of the best in higher education, the University of Pittsburgh (Pitt) serves to train the next generation of professionals to best serve the global community. The Department of Medicine at Pitt is committed to providing exceptional and comprehensive education preparing young professionals to deliver innovative quality care.
Aside from her role as the Professor of Medicine, Biostatistics, Nursing, and Clinical and Translational Science at the University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Rubio serves as the Director of the Center for Research on Health Care Data Center, Co-Director of the Institute for Clinical Research Education, Director of Academic Programs at the Institute for Clinical Research Education and Director of Evaluation for their Clinical and Translational Science Institute.
Following graduation with a Bachelor of Science degree from Florida Atlantic University in 1988, Dr. Rubio earned her Master of Science in Social Work from Florida International University in 1991. In 1996, Dr. Rubio completed her PhD in Social Work at Washington University.
To keep abreast of the latest in the industry, Dr. Rubio maintains affiliation with the Association for Clinical and Translational Science.
Among her many accomplishments, Dr. Rubio is proud to have published over seventy peer reviewed articles and several book chapters. Looking back, she attributes her success to hard work, dedication, and excellent collaborators.
Dr. Rubio’s commitment to the field of Clinical and Translational Science has resulted in recognition as the 2008-2009 Fellow of the Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine Program for Women, 2011 President for the Association for Clinical Research Training, and the 2016 Association for Clinical and Translational Science Distinguished Educator Award.
In her free time, she enjoys gardening, cooking, and reading.
