Anthropic PBC is targeting as much as $3.5 billion from Japanese investors in its proposed U.S. IPO, Bloomberg reported, giving those investors direct access to the share sale.

The $3.5 billion target applies to Japanese investors, not the IPO as a whole. Anthropic’s share count and price range remain open, so the total size of the proposed offering has yet to be set.

A regulatory filing names Mizuho Securities Co. as manager of the Japan portion of the sale. It also lists Morgan Stanley MUFG Securities Co. and Goldman Sachs Group Inc. among the firms handling investor orders, alongside Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities Co.

Bloomberg reported that investors in Australia, Canada and parts of Europe can also participate in the share sale. Anthropic, the developer of the Claude chatbot, proposes to list its Class A shares on Nasdaq under the ticker ANT.
