Respawn Entertainment released the trailer and the first details for “Apex Legends” Season 13 titled “Saviors.” It confirmed what players already know from previous leaks that the new Legend to be added to the game is named Newcastle, who happens to be Bangalore’s long-lost brother.
The new trailer runs for almost four minutes and opens with Bangalore reaffirming her decision to leave the Apex Games to return to her family or “what’s left of it.” This is a reminder that a huge part of Bangalore’s lore is losing his brother, Jackson Williams, who was presumed dead after they were attacked following the Battle of Gridiron. What was supposed to be Bangalore’s last game turned out to be what will reunite her with her brother, who will be called Newcastle in “Apex Legends.”
While avid fans of “Apex Legends” know a bit about Newcastle’s story, his abilities are still under wraps. However, some details may have been revealed already after a huge amount of information was leaked from a datamine last month.
A Reddit post based on the leaked gameplay details described Newcastle as a “mobile defender,” which is further demonstrated in the official “Apex Legends” Season 13 trailer. Aside from using a mobile energy shield, the leak also said Newcastle has the ability to “drag” and protect his teammates while they are being revived.
The same leak also said Newcastle can jump into a location near an ally and “create a fortified stronghold.” While some details from the leaks could be changed, this was one of the abilities Newcastle executed in the latest “Apex Legends” trailer.
The giant creature featured in the trailer is also likely going to be a recurring sight in “Apex Legends” Season 13. The new season will introduce a new map location called Storm Point, and an official description from EA reads, “What treasures lie on the shores of Storm Point. Stay sharp, and stick together, even dead beasts hold danger.”
Fans will have to wait for the full patch notes for the upcoming season, but one of the highlights of “Apex Legends” Season 13 is the reworked Ranked system. “Saviors” is expected to launch on May 10.
