Arkia said it stopped selling tickets for flights to Marrakech, Morocco, on Oct. 21 at the request of Israeli security authorities, leaving passengers with existing bookings awaiting a decision on the route.

Sales are suspended until further notice. Arkia said it is discussing with authorities whether the service can continue and what any decision would mean for tickets already sold. Ynet reported that those flights had not been canceled as of Oct. 21, though their operation remained undecided.

Arkia said it is exploring the use of commercial partners if Israeli airlines are barred from operating the route. It has not announced a decision to use that option.

Israir, another Israeli airline, stopped selling Marrakech tickets on Oct. 13 while awaiting final guidance on new security requirements. Israir linked the directives to a Sept. 30 incident aboard a flydubai flight bound for Israel. It also paused plans to increase its Marrakech service to three flights a week in November.

Arkia resumed Marrakech flights in August after a break of nearly three years, Mako reported at the time. The airline has given no date for a decision on the route or its existing bookings.
