The Assassin’s Creed franchise is a blood-soaked property, but it always contained itself in more grounded settings. Players would either fight other humans or savage beasts. In Assassin’s Creed: Origins, however, a new free downloadable content was just announced that will allow players to fight gods and giant monsters. This would effectively make the game akin to God of War.
Fans got the news via Ubisoft’s announcement of the game’s Season Pass details, Polygon reports. So far, it seems the paid service will provide players with two expansions. One is called “The Hidden Ones” and the other is called “The Curse of the Pharaohs.”
Both expansions will still feature the game’s main character, the medjay Bayek. The first, which will be available in January 2018, will feature the growth of the Assassin brotherhood. Players will be able to play around with a new region and the level cap will be extended, as well.
In the second DLC, fans will be pitted against elements in Egyptian Mythology. Players will be fighting undead pharaohs, warriors of Anubis, and giant scorpions. This will all be set in another new region, one that is a little more mystical than what AC fans might be used to.
Those are just the expansions, however. The Seasons Pass will also come with several other contents, including a new mode called “Trial of the Gods,” which will pit players against various Egyptian deities. There will also be a Horde Mode, which naturally allows players to test their mettle against wave after wave of enemies.
The Season Pass will cost players in the US market $40, Gamespot reports. Gamers could also get the DLC automatically when they buy Assassin’s Creed: Origins Gold Edition, which costs $99. Aside from new modes and expansions, players will also be getting new armors and in-game credits, as well as a new unique weapon called “Calamity Blade.”
