With the rise in interest in cryptocurrency and crypto mining, Asus has revealed that it has developed a motherboard with 20 slots for GPUs. With graphics cards being particularly important for mining those elusive digital coins, it would help to have as many of them as possible in one place so that they can speed up the process.
Called the H370 Mining Master, it’s a motherboard that was specifically designed for crypto mining. With 20 GPUs in a single board, crypto miners won’t have to invest in extra units just to boost their capacity to mine cryptocurrency. It’s basically an entire crypto mining farm in just one board, The Verge reports.
One of the biggest selling points of this new motherboard is the matter of reduced maintenance cost and effort. The motherboard basically negates the need to have multiple GPU casings to have the muscle necessary to mine, which means there’s no need to have as many PCs working on it. These units need to be cleaned from time to time as well.
Diagnostics also becomes easier and more accurate since users only have to work with one unit instead of ten. As Tom’s Hardware also points out, the motherboard itself was tweaked during manufacturing so that it suits the needs of crypto miners best. In short, it makes the jobs of miners less of a hassle.
No release date for the motherboard has been revealed just yet, but many are expecting a Q3 2018 launch. If so, it’s likely that miners are going to jump at the chance to make their operations much leaner. Considering the GPU shortage that the demand for the product due to crypto mining has caused, Asus might have a winner in their hands in terms of profitability. It’s simply unfortunate that the motherboard can’t be used for anything else.
