The Atlanta Braves digitally recreated its Truist Park home using Epic Games’ Unreal Engine technology to become the first Major League Baseball (MLB) team to enter the metaverse.
Fans will be able to visit a photo-realistic digital twin of the ballpark, as well as the Battery Atlanta shopping center, which is an ‘immersive, multiplayer environment’ streamed directly to browsers.
Inside ‘Digital Truist Park’, users could create avatars, explore areas such as the Braves clubhouse, experience interactive features, access exclusive content, play games, meet other fans, and win prizes.
The Braves said the Digital Truist Park, as well as rolling out future Web3.0 innovations, non-fungible tokens (NFTs), cryptocurrencies, and blockchain, will enable them to engage with future generations of fans.
Derek Schiller, Atlanta Braves president, and CEO said the digital version of Truist Park would offer limitless opportunities to create unique fan engagements.
