Now that “Attack on Titan” Season 3 Episode 6 is out, the show finally revealed how Eren received his powers. Fans of the shonen series had been wondering about the character's power's origin since he has been portrayed as someone of inconsequential background.
As the story unfolded, however, the show revealed that Eren Yeager is anything but ordinary, Otaku Art reported. His father, Grisha Yeager, was part of the Eldia Revivalists, who plotted to destroy Marley and elevate Eldia into a world power. In “Attack on Titan” Season 3 Episode 6, it was revealed that Grisha himself gave the Attack Titan powers to Eren, as well as the might of the Founding Titan.
Eren had been injected a Titan Serum, turning him into a mindless giant. Grisha then let himself be consumed by his son in order for Eren to receive the Attack and Founding Titan powers. The show revealed this information in “Attack on Titan” Season 3 Episode 6 through flashbacks, which ended in Eren crying and holding his father’s glasses.
Grisha was first granted the Attack Titan’s might by “The Owl,” the founder of the Eldia Revivalists, and was tasked to retrieve the Founding Titan’s power, which was held by the Reiss royal family. “Attack on Titan” Season 3 Episode 6 showed that every 13 years, the Reiss would hold a ceremony that oversees the transfer of the Founding Titan’s power to another high-ranking member.
During one ceremony, Grisha Yeager interrupted the conversion and consumed Frieda Reiss, who had the Founding Titan’s power back then. By doing so, Grisha obtained both the Attack and Founding Titan’s power, which he eventually transferred to Eren. The big reveal in “Attack on Titan” Season 3 Episode 6 was a huge disclosure for the fans of the shonen series who have been asking how it is that Eren got such an enormous power being the nobody that he is.
But even wielding such a tremendous amount of might, Eren is still chained up at the moment and is at the mercy of Rod Reiss. His friends over at the Survey Corps are preparing an extraction operation for their comrade, although that is going to be a tall order given that they still need to pass through Kenny and the Internal Military Police before they could get their hands on Eren.
