While many were excited to see numerous aspects of the latest “Avengers: Endgame” trailer, it would appear that a lot of people did not appreciate some of the marketing things that were missing. Specifically, there are those who are angry at the fact that The Wasp (Evangeline Lilly) is not in many of the movie posters promoting the film.
As Comic Book reports, tickets for “Avengers: Endgame” are already being sold to fans who simply can’t wait until the premiere date to buy a spot in the theatre. On the one hand, it’s a chance for the studios and the producers to make money early. On the other, the development comes with posters that are causing a stir among fans of The Wasp.
Following the infamous snap of Thanos (Josh Brolin), Hope Van Dyne was among those counted as having been turned into dust. However, unlike other side characters in the MCU, she is missing from many of the “Avengers: Endgame” posters promoting the film as one of the fallen heroes. This has caused quite a stir within the Marvel community who are sick of the heroine getting treated like an afterthought.
Those who remember the marketing behind the last movie featuring her and Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), largely claimed that The Wasp was the first female lead in the MCU. This was due to the fact that she was sharing the main character spot with Scott Lang. It would appear that based on her absence from many of the “Avengers: Endgame” promotional posters, the studio has completely forgotten that.
As a result of this, many Marvel fans took to social media to air their disappointment at how the company has been treating the character. This is made even more egregious by the fact that The Wasp is one of the original members of the Avengers in the comic books. One can only hope that it won’t affect the bottom line of “Avengers: Endgame” too much when it premieres on April 26.
