BTS just released the “Map of the Soul: 7” album in February but the group is already working on their follow-up album. This was announced by RM himself on the group’s latest live stream on YouTube on April 17.
A new album is in the works and the members’ roles in its production
Jimin also shared more details about BTS’ upcoming project and it appeared that they can produce a new album just a few months after releasing one because they do not have much work due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It means the seven members do not have overseas schedules or live performances since they are also staying indoors to be safe from the contagion.
"As our team's production of a new album has been assigned independently to ourselves, we named the project managers for each category and I was put in charge of music," The Korea Herald quoted Jimin as saying. "As the project manager, I would outline how the band members want to carry out the music producing, what style of music they want, how they want it to be organized as well as which member would go best with the available music.”
In any case, RM explained that since most of their concerts have been canceled or postponed, producing a new album is one of the things that they can do for their fans. He also noted that the coronavirus pandemic may last long and it is not yet certain when they can go back to the stage and perform.
"As many concerts have been postponed or canceled in the prolonging of the COVID-19 situation, we have reached a conclusion that we should try a new thing," RM said. He added that they will film the process of their album-making and share it with the ARMYs later.
The much-awaited mixtape
Another thing to look forward to from BTS is the release of a subgroup’s mixtape. Fans have long been requesting for this and finally, it is happening. As per The Independent, Jungkook and Suga teamed up to make a mixtape and V will also release one but it will be his solo production.
