BTS making a name in the U.S.
BTS’ name and song appeared alongside the most popular American musicians. The group consisting of RM, Jungkook, V, Jin, Jimin, J-Hope and Suga were also seen in American TV programs more often these days.
The South Korean boy band also collaborated with some US-based artists and they have performed in various award ceremonies too. On top of these, they have won awards in the international scene and with all that, it is clear that BTS has come a really long way since their debut in 2013.
At this point, it can be said that they have successfully infiltrated the US market as well, with the American musicians also recognizing them as great pop artists. In short, they have been slowly gaining respect in America especially after topping the Billboard Hot 100 recently with their smash hit English song called “Dynamite.”
BTS’ reactions to the recognition in the world’s biggest music market
The group’s fandom called the ARMY has been celebrating after BTS ranks no. 1 in Billboard’s Hot 100 chart and the members are equally thrilled with their feat. The members were asked by Associated Press for comments with regards to beating Cardi B’s “WAP” for the top spot.
For Suga, he said that it does not feet real at all and they are really happy.
“Never expected it,” Billboard quoted RM as saying. “Never! It’s like the song of the year.”
The team was also asked about how they feel about slowly earning more respect from the U.S. RM admitted that they definitely feel that respect now and explained why foreigners may have started to like them and their music.
“We think that for many Americans, they were not familiar with us - we look different, we sing differently, we got some different choreography, music videos and even lifestyle,” RM said. “But I think as time goes by, we’re doing these shows and songs and concerts and awards, I think quite a lot of people in the American music market is getting, like, kind of close to us and it’s very good because that’s what we actually want.”
At any rate, with their huge success with “Dynamite,” BTS has high chances of being nominated for the Grammy’s Award. The members are thrilled with this prospect and this is their biggest dream right now.
