Barack Obama and Michelle Obama are possibly some of the most liked people in America, so even if they have already left the White House since early 2017, tabloids are still reporting on their allegedly doomed marriage. This time, the couple have reportedly taken further steps in getting a divorce.
The same story further incites intrigue by claiming that the former first couple is in for a nasty divorce. The ex-President of the United States is reportedly refusing to pay alimony once the rumored divorce is final.
Barack Obama, Michelle Obama divorce rumors: Is America’s ‘couple goals’ parting ways?
A recent issue of the tabloid Globe features a photo (via Gossip Cop) of Michelle at a speaking engagement where she can be seen not wearing a wedding ring. The same source implied that it is proof that their alleged divorce is taking off since Barack was also previously seen without his ring.
Globe’s insider went as far as claiming that Michelle and Barack have come up with contesting divorce papers containing different terms of agreements. The ex-President is allegedly disgruntled by Michelle’s supposed demand to be paid alimony after their marriage ends as he insists Michelle does not need financial support. Alimony is one of the most common provisions in marital separations or divorce with the amount being decided by the court.
“She’s conspiring with her lawyers to squeeze Barack for as much money as she can,” the same tipster added. An earlier issue of Globe also ran a story claiming that the Obamas’ supposed divorce could involve as much as $150 million fortune.
Why Barack and Michelle are publicly seen without their wedding rings
To determine whether this wild divorce rumor is true or not, fans of Barack and Michelle should look into Globe’s premise of the report: the missing wedding rings. Interestingly, this matter was addressed by the former President years ago.
In 2016, it was reported that Barack has been taking off his wedding ring and discreetly puts it in his pocket whenever he is at a public engagement. As President, he has to shake hands with many people almost every day, and he does not want to risk losing his ring during the exchange of pleasantries.
Michelle's reason for being seen without her wedding ring could likely be the same as her husband. With that, it can then be said that the episodic divorce claims are mere gossip.
