A recent blog post by "Battlefield 5" developers details what the team has learned from the closed alpha of DICE's latest upcoming entry in the "Battlefield" franchise.
The closed alpha provided alpha access players the chance to experience the upcoming "Battlefield 5" game through the Arctic Fjord map. Game modes tested in the closed alpha include Conquest mode and two variants of the Grand Operation mode, namely Airborne and Breakthrough.
Grand Operation is one of the new game modes that "Battlefield 5" will introduce. DICE multiplayer producer David Sirland mentions that the Grand Operation game mode aims to showcase the multiplayer content that "Battlefield 5" has to offer by creating a player-determined narrative multiplayer experience. How players perform in one round of Grand Operations will affect the support and supplies they have access to in the next.
The developers have stated that after the closed alpha, the open beta will launch in September. The open beta will include more weapons, more maps, and server support for more players. Some of the tweaks the developers mentioned will be implemented in the open beta due to feedback in the closed alpha include adjustment of revive timers and optimization of the Time-to-Kill experience for players.
In the same post, the developers laid out the dates that fans should be watching out for "Battlefield 5". Oct. 11 will be when EA Access and Origin Access Play First Trial and Origin Access Premier members will get their hands on the game. Those who signed up for the "Battlefield 5" Deluxe Edition early enlister access will have the game by Oct. 16. "Battlefield 5's" Standard Edition will be released to the public by Oct. 19.
