‘Baywatch’ star Zac Efron admitted to feeling narcissistic with co-star Dwayne Johnson after recalling hitting the gym in-between takes. Meanwhile, original cast members admitted to numerous off-screen hook-ups during filming of the popular television show that the film is based on.

According to TV3, Efron recalled feeling self-conscious on the filming set of his upcoming ‘Baywatch’ reboot with co-star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Efron is set to play lifesaver Matt Brody in director Seth Gordon’s adaptation of the iconic television series of the same name.

Best known for his lead role in Disney’s musical franchise ‘High School Musical’, Efron managed to transform himself from a boy-next-door type into a popular Hollywood Hunk. He recalled a time when he and Johnson took to the gym to lift weights in between takes. He said, "Here we are lifting weights on the beach, surrounded by a bunch of people watching. It was one of the most ridiculously narcissistic moments of my life."

The 28-year old actor is known for sharing his workout and diet regime on social media. He shared that his training consisted of weights, a “ninja” training course on set, and tire-flipping races with Johnson. He also revealed that he followed a strict diet consisting of organic greens and protein as well as “days of absolutely zero carbs and sugar”.

According to Stuff.co.nz, Efron admitted, "Right now I'm probably the physically strongest I've ever felt… Not in terms of bench press or how much I can squat, but in how quickly I could get out of this room and destroy everything in my path." Efron worked with nutritionist and trainer Patrick Murphy of Murphy Fitness to look his absolute best for the film.

Meanwhile, original cast members from the hit television show ‘Baywatch’ revealed that there were a lot of naughty moments off-screen while filming the series, according to an article on Mirror.

Gena Lee Nolin, who played Neely Capshaw, divulged that cast mates with haul themselves up in trailers to get intimate between takes. She joked, "I learned quickly, because this was my first acting gig. If the trailer is a rockin' don't come a knockin'…" David Chokachi, who played Cody Madison, also recalled that they would all go naked and be “around each other all day.”

Pamela Anderson, who played the famous C.J. Parker, added to the backstage gossip by revealing that she had numerous romps with fellow co-stars during an interview for a Channel 5 ‘Baywatch’ documentary. She is set to do a cameo in Gordon’s upcoming remake together with David Hasselhoff.

The latter, who signed on as executive producer for the original series, helped revive the show back when ratings fell and costs grew higher by managing to slash the production budget from $1.4 million per episode to $750,000. Hasselhoff implemented cost-cutting by limiting filming locations, employing fewer crew members, doing lesser takes, and using shorter scripts.

‘Baywatch’ is a cinematic reboot of the original television series that gained popularity from the late 1980s through the 1990s. Johnson serves as one of the producers along with Michael Berk, Gregory J. Bonnan, Beau Flynn, Tom Pollock, Ivan Reitman, and Douglas Schwartz. The film is scheduled to premiere on May 19, 2017.
