The previous chapter of “Black Clover” really went all out on the whole “power of friendship” thing with Henry trying to sacrifice himself for his friends who are getting stomped on. In response, his friends charge in to save him while screaming that they “don’t want to lose one of their friends!” or something. Will this be the signal for the typical shonen plot armor to activate? What can we expect in “Black Clover” Chapter 189?
It isn’t clear if Gauche is going to lose in “Black Clover” Chapter 189, but if he does, it can be attributed to the “power of friendship” that seems to be this property’s whole shtick. The last panel of the last chapter did show Asta hitting the arrogant magician with his sword while Erica is grabbing him. This might lead to the noisy non-magician magician sending Gauche flying along with his own comrade, TheAnimeScrolls notes.
So much for not losing his friends. Asta might just hurt one of his teammates in “Black Clover” Chapter 189 with that final swing. If so, it would be the most interesting thing to happen in this event since it would at least inject some sort of deviation from the standard formula of “we win because of friendship!”
If there is anything that will give the Black Bulls a chance to grab victory in “Black Clover” Chapter 189, though, it will be because Gauche might have had a lot of mana drained by Henry. Asta might then beat down his enemy enough so that he falls unconscious and the mana vacuum of the group can siphon off the remaining energy.
It’s not a guarantee that this is exactly going to be the case, but “Black Clover” Chapter 189 will be dropping on Jan. 21 anyway. Fans will then be able to learn how the story goes and if the “power of friendship” prevails.
