The previous arc of the anime series is, by far, one of the most significant as it featured the major upgrade to Asta’s power. Now that the anime series is transitioning to a new storyline, many are expecting “Black Clover” episode 66 to be a so-called filler episode. But, there are reasons why fans must still look forward to it.
“Black Clover” episode 66 is titled “Eye of the Midnight Sun’s Secret,” which already suggests that the installment would be more informative rather than being an action-packed episode. The Eye of the Midnight Sun, a group of rogue magic-wielding beings, is the main antagonist of the manga’s current arc. This means that, even if it is going to be somewhat a filler episode, it could provide some vital information about the enemies of the Clover Kingdom. Just a tiny hint: the protagonists will be fighting some of their friends after being affected by the enemies’ powerful spells and magic.
So far, the anime revealed that the Eye of the Midnight Sun is after the magic stones that were previously held and mastered by the Elves. However, what they plan on doing with these magic stones are still vague to the protagonists. The “Black Clover” episode 66 title hints that the Black Bulls could be picking up more clues along the way.
There is seemingly no direct manga chapter that serves as source material for “Black Clover” episode 66. And it is unlikely that the producers will reveal all the information about the Eye of the Midnight Sun in a single episode. So, aside from being a filler installment, it might also offer some recap to keep the viewers up to speed before things escalate again for a major plot.
Meanwhile, ComicBook also reported that the release of a new opening and ending theme, which debuted on episode 65, for the anime series hints that the current season will continue up to the fan-favorite Royal Knights arc. Curious fans can keenly watch them again on “Black Clover” episode 66, airing on Jan. 15, to pick up clues on what is going to happen in the following arcs.
