More details about the “Blue Bloods” season 9 premiere was revealed by CBS recently. The next season’s first episode, titled “Playing with Fire,” is very likely to tackle some events in Danny’s past.
Taking cues from the premiere’s title, “Blue Bloods” season 9 opens with a story that is literally related to fire and linked to Danny’s family. According to CBS, Danny is going to pursue a case that involves a member of a drug cartel named Louis Delgado, who will be portrayed by Lou Diamond Phillips. Danny likely finds a lead that ties Louis to the burning of his home.
It seems like catching the drug cartel member will come easy. A teaser photo for “Blue Bloods” season 9 shows Danny escorting Louis to the precinct. However, it appears that he might face some obstacles along the way. With that, he will be needing Erin’s help in his investigation.
Erin gets a promotion at the DA’s office as soon as “Blue Bloods” season 9 starts. This opportunity also comes in handy to those close to her. Aside from Danny, Jamie will also handle an investigation that will later need Erin’s help. But it will not be as easy as it looks. It seems like Erin will have to find a way to help Danny’s investigation without messing up her position at the DA’s office.
The “Blue Bloods” season 9 official synopsis also confirmed what had been previously speculated on about the future of Jamie and Eddie. After announcing their engagement to the Reagan family, the couple will face some issues with the patriarch and NYPD commissioner, Frank.
Frank does not like his son riding with a fellow police officer who also happens to be his future wife in “Blue Bloods” season 9. As Selleck teased in an earlier interview, Frank is under the impression that it is unusual in the history of NYPD and might question their family’s credibility.
Fans may recall that Jamie’s persistence in keeping Eddie as his patrol partner began in the season 8 finale. Jamie knew that some people might have an issue with seeing them as police partners while being an engaged couple at the same time. Now, that struggle extends to Jamie’s family, specifically with his father. “Blue Bloods” season 9 premieres on Friday, Sept. 28, at 10 p.m. ET on CBS.
