Bodum said the rate of reported breakages was “extremely low” after a U.S. recall of 5.9 million French presses tied to 70 carafe breakage reports, including 48 reports of burns.
In its Oct. 29 statement, the company said it takes injury reports “extremely seriously.” Bodum said future products will include a plastic stirring spoon and warning label, and affected U.S. consumers can receive the items through the recall.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) said a cracked or damaged carafe can break during use and that metal utensils may damage the glass. Owners should stop using metal spoons or other metal utensils to stir coffee and contact Bodum for the spoon and warning label.
Covered eight- and 12-cup models were sold in the United States from 1974 through October 2026. Consumers can call Bodum at 888-879-8213 on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET. EconoTimes previously reported the affected models and consumer instructions.
