“Bones” is in its 11th season and episode 16 is set to feature a murder in a college where rival acapella groups are vying for the crown of the best at making music with just their mouths. Guest starring in the episode are members of the sensational acapella group “Pentatonix” who are among the main suspects in the murder of their lead singer.
A YouTube video preview from the show’s official account shows Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz) and James Aubrey (John Boyd) walking in on one of the groups as they are singing. Flashing his badge, Booth essentially tells the group to can it.
The school has two acapella groups which are divided by gender. There is the all-male group called The Whippersnaps while the female group is called Gingersnaps. Both groups are questioned about the dead singer who was found in one of the school’s labs.
It would seem that the leader of the male group booted out a member shortly before he was killed, giving Booth and co. a suspect with a motive. Booth and Aubrey then start questioning the male group’s members.
The episode also reveals a rather shocking secret when Aubrey confides in Angela Montenegro (Michaela Conlin) that he sang acapella in his school days. He asks Angela to keep the information a secret, though it doesn’t seem like she found the revelation that interesting.
“Pentatonix” member Kirstin Maldanodo is playing Liz Dervan who is part of the female group. Her fellow acapella group mates Scott Hoying and Mitchell Grassi are playing Ted Gibbs and Julian Klein respectively, and are members of the male group. Filling in the gaps are members of acapella groups Bruin Harmony and Random Voices from UCLA.
For fans of the “Pitch Perfect” phenomenon or anything acapella, this episode is a rare treat. “Bones” season 11, episode 16 will air on May 19 on Fox.
