A new arc that will be focused on the young ninja Mirai will begin in “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 106. She is going on an S-ranked mission to which he was specifically assigned to by the current Hokage, Naruto.
Teasers confirm that the events in “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 106 are based on “Konoha Shinden: Steam Ninja Scrolls.” But the synopsis, as reported by Organic Dinosaur, seems to suggest there are some alterations in how the story will be told in the anime series.
The “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 106 synopsis is worded as if Mirai knows from the start that her mission is simply to escort Kakashi and Might Guy as they head to hot spring. In “Steam Ninja Scrolls,” Mirai initially hoped that it is going to be an S-ranked mission with chances of getting in combat. She was then disappointed upon learning what her task actually was.
However, in the core of both the stories in “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 106 and in “Steam Ninja Scrolls” is Mirai and her attitude towards her missions and chunin responsibilities. Naruto will most likely have a conversation with Kakashi noting how Mirai is majorly similar to her late father Asuma.
They take their jobs very seriously, something that Mirai has shown in earlier arcs of the anime series. This means that, unlike other characters, she might forget that it is also okay to have fun while fulfilling their tasks. In fact, the “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 106 summary says Mirai will still be on guard as she thinks Kakashi and Guy’s trip to the hot spring is just a cover for a potentially action-packed mission.
Mirai also worries that there is not much she has to do as a shinobi in the new era. She is afraid that she will not have much experience in active duty because the shinobi world is peaceful now. But it is possible that the whole point of her going out with Kakashi and Guy is simply to teach her to loosen up. “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 106 will be released on Sunday, May 12.
