“Boruto” Episode 69 will signal the end of the Chocho arc and the return of the series to its main stories. The previous episode was widely considered to be disappointing, but fans can at least look forward to the upcoming one being the last in this filler arc. “Boruto” Episode 69 also expects to feature an abduction for ransom that is likely not what it seems. [Spoilers Ahead.]
Episode 68 saw the revelation of Tomaru’s true character and Chocho’s deluded pursuit of his affection even after learning of this. The episode also saw the actor’s kidnapping, with the ransom demand being paid in “Boruto” Episode 69. As OtakuArt notes, though, Boruto and Shikadai will quickly realize that there is something fishy about the whole affair.
There will likely be some good combat scenes in “Boruto” Episode 69 to make up for how atrociously below average the previous episode was. This upcoming episode of the arc could also see a certain someone finally getting the comeuppance that they deserve for orchestrating the whole affair.
Considering that Team 7 and Team 10 will be joining the rescue operation, “Boruto” Episode 69 will hopefully showcase some scenes that will cap the end of the Chocho arc in a somewhat satisfying fashion. There really is not much hope of this happening, however, as filler episodes of this franchise and that of “Naruto” were notoriously underwhelming.
As such, viewers likely will not get much out of “Boruto” Episode 69 except perhaps the joy in knowing that the anime is finally moving on from the filler bits. The person behind the gas mask will likely be revealed in this episode, The Anime Scrolls notes, but it probably won’t be as big of a surprise as the animators believe.
Once “Boruto” Episode 69 airs on Aug. 16, it’s time to go back to the more serious plot points of the series. Perhaps the main antagonist of the show will finally make their move with some new plans to cause chaos and mayhem for Boruto and his friends.
