Boruto and the rest of Team 7 are springing into action with the Jonin named Mugino in “Boruto” episode 158 for their next mission. Their assignment is to find a missing laboratory researcher, and this seemingly simple task will soon lead to them to their early encounter with Kara.
‘Boruto’ episode 158 spoilers: Team 7, Mugino search for missing lab researcher
The official preview of “Boruto” episode 158 shows Team 7 and Mugino meeting with the wife of a certain Mr. Anato, who is a researcher for a medical equipment company. His wife seeks help from Konoha after not being able to contact Mr. Anato for some time.
The brief teaser also shows Konohamaru meeting with Team 7 for the upcoming mission. However, Boruto, Sarada, and Mitsuki will be going to the field with Mugino. In an earlier teaser from Animedia Magazine, as translated by OrganicDinosaur, Mugino is described as having experience “long-term military campaigns.” Also, Konohamaru knows Mugino well and that would explain why he entrusts Team 7 to Mugino’s care.

While the mission in “Boruto” episode 158 sounds relatively easy, certain details of the case complicate the situation for Team 7 and Mugino. First, Mr. Anato hails from a “far-away country” meaning they will have to perform the mission in a place unfamiliar to them. Also, the lab researcher has often gone on trips to look for new materials and ingredients for medical technology development. That means Mr. Anato does not stay in one place for long, and Team 7 is practically looking for a man who is always on the move.
‘Boruto’ episode 158 release date, where to watch
Thanks to earlier released teasers for episodes beyond “Boruto” episode 158, it is confirmed that Team 7 and Mugino will find Mr. Anato, but it does not necessarily mean they will succeed in bringing him home. Spoilers for the first anime installment in August suggests that the group of ninja from Konoha will have an interaction with members of Kara in some capacity.
Fans should note that “Boruto” episode 158 is not a filler, but it features some anime-original elements. For one, the appearance of Mugino in the anime is slightly different than in the manga. Episode 158 also serves as somewhat a character development for Mugino who will play a more important role in future episodes.
“Boruto” episode 158 will be released on Sunday, July 26. Fans outside Japan can wait for the new episode to stream on Crunchyroll.
