The Boston Celtics have undergone a major overhaul this offseason after Kyrie Irving signed with the Nets and Al Horford joining the Sixers. But it wasn’t all bad for the Cs since they managed to acquire Kemba Walker amidst the shuffling.
And besides, the Boston Celtics still has a potent lineup despite losing Irving and Horford. In fact, some teams have apparently tried making a play on some of the Celtics players, specifically Jayson Tatum and Gordon Hayward.
According to NBA insider Keith Smith, an opposing team executive tried poking the Boston Celtics to see how much they’re asking for Tatum and said that the price fell on ridiculous levels. The executive went on to say that they expected no less from the Celtics since Tatum is expected to be a future franchise player.
Jayson Tatum’s future with the Boston Celtics
Indeed, the stats he’s already producing is enough to justify this claim although there’s still plenty of room for improvement on Tatum’s part. Meanwhile, another executive tried asking the Boston Celtics if they’re willing to part ways with Hayward but was “shot down quickly.” Although Hayward hasn’t returned to his former self following a sickening leg injury a couple of years ago, coach Brad Stevens said that the 29-year-old is still an integral piece of the team’s success.
Stevens highlighted Hayward’s ability on the floor and how he impacts the game on multiple angles. He also mentioned the hard work being put by the shooting guard on the gym and how Hayward appears to be on a mission to prove to everyone that he’s still the promising player that everyone touts him to be. The Boston Celtics are expected to toil in the 2019-2020 season, more so during the Eastern Conference playoffs given that the Sixers and Bucks are also aiming to win a title next year.
Add the fact that Kemba Walker will be newly introduced into the roster as the main core and it’s understandable that expectations for the Cs aren’t all that high. And that’s a good thing as pressure isn’t always good for a team who recently just got its roster shaken. Whatever the case, there’s little doubt that the Boston Celtics will enter the Playoffs next year and it would be interesting to see what sort of adjustment Stevens made for the team.
Boston Celtics still unsure about Tacko Fall
As for the fate of Tacko Fall, it remains unclear whether Celtics general manager Danny Ainge will add the 7’6 center into the lineup as they’re still evaluating the newcomer’s performance. Ainge expressed positive sentiments on the raw potential of Fall but appeared unsure whether he’s a good fit for the Boston Celtics and the current pace of the NBA.
