One of the most charming aspects about Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wilds is the sheer challenge that it presents to players, especially during the early stages. With the upcoming downloadable content for the game, the creators want to up the ante and make enemies even tougher. What’s more, there will be a horde-style battle mode and a feature that will even track Link’s movements.
The DLC will be known as The Master Trials and it will be the first of the two add-ons that Nintendo will be releasing for BOTW, Polygon reports. Its release is slated for the summer seasons while the second one is scheduled for launch during the holidays. Players who want to get both would need the Expansion Pass for the game, which currently costs $19.99.
One of the features of the DLC will be the Hard Mode, which will crank up the rank of the enemies that Link will be facing off against. For example, Hyrule’s champion will be fighting Blue Bokogoblins instead of Red ones and there might even be high ranking monsters that players will not meet when playing through the normal difficulty.
Even sneaking is going to be nerfed when playing in Hard Mode since Link will be detected a lot easier. This will make those quick getaways after stealing key items from tough bosses a lot harder, which means that the only way to get past them is to fight.
Then there’s the new mode called Trial of the Sword, which pits Link against hordes of enemies while being minimally equipped, Gamespot reports. There are 45 rooms to overcome, with the challenges becoming exponentially more difficult as the players progress.
Finally, there’s a feature called the Hero’s Path Mode, which basically acts as a journal or a diary for the players. It will record their gaming sessions, highlighting their unique experiences and playthroughs.
