Buffkin / Baker, a leading national retained search firm, is pleased to announce that Mark Farrington – a well-known Health Information Technology (HIT) Industry executive and entrepreneur – has joined the firm as partner in its health care technology practice.

Farrington previously served as chief innovation officer and chief information officer for Premise Health, the nation’s largest worksite health and patient engagement company, with more than 550 worksite-based health and wellness centers in the U.S. He has been a leader in health care technology and technology services, onsite health care and diagnostic laboratory companies for more than three decades.

Prior to joining Premise Health, Farrington was a co-founder of W Squared, an entrepreneurial self-funded startup that provided outsourced business solutions for small and mid-sized companies. He served as CIO from the organization’s inception, working closely with companies in the health care and technology industries to create scalable platforms for growth. During his tenure, Farrington assisted client organizations with strategic oversight of their technology initiatives across a wide array of services including software companies, pathology and clinical labs, recruiting firms and many others. W Squared is now an operating division of Premise Health.
Farrington has served in executive roles in many other successful health care tech companies, including OralDNA Labs, American Esoteric Laboratories, CHD Meridian Healthcare, Labcorp and Allied Clinical Laboratories. Under his leadership, companies have received numerous awards, including Best in Business by Nashville Business Journal, Future 50 Private Companies to Watch from the Nashville Chamber of Commerce and the Inc. 5000 Award.
Farrington is a member of the Nashville CIO Council and serves on the board of the Nashville Adult Literacy Center (NALC). He received a bachelor’s degree in biology from Birmingham-Southern College.
