Campari Group will purchase an initial 70 percent stake in the bourbon and rye whiskey brand, Wilderness Trail Distillery, for $420 million. , before acquiring the remaining 30% in 2031.
Wilderness Trail is valued at $600 million.
Until the transaction closes before the end of the year, as expected, each company will operate independently.
According to Campari CEO Bob Kunze-Concewitz, adding the fast-growing super-premium Wilderness Trail brand they would further expand their bourbon offering, priming it to their second major leg after the aperitif portfolio.
He added that they have the opportunity to significantly expand our production capacity and aging inventory to satisfy the future growth of our premium bourbons.
