TORONTO, Feb. 17, 2016 -- The Canadian Gaming Association (CGA) is today issuing a notice and warning to the public that it does not call individuals or give away prizes.
"It has come to our attention that parties fraudulently claiming to be representatives of the Canadian Gaming Association or of fictitious but legitimate-sounding organizations such as The International Gaming Commission or the Canadian Gaming and Lottery Commission, are contacting members of the public across North America to inform them that they have been selected as winners of major prizes that can be claimed by paying a fee," said Bill Rutsey, CEO of the Canadian Gaming Association. "This is a fraud and a scam. We do not call individuals or give away prizes. The CGA has notified the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre of this scam and urge all people who have been targeted by these criminals to do the same."
